In its heyday, race organizers would host free suppers at the site on Friday nights. People would come from near and far to eat, enter their horses in the Sunday races, and talk about the news of the week. The food was plentiful and the conversations, mostly in French, were lively. The revellers are gone and the site now welcomes quiet and contemplative visitors.
