Short in stature, Maurice Richard loved racing his horses against those of his neighbors. He started Tee Maurice ("tee" means "little" in Cajun French) in 1902. His son, Ellis Richard helped him run the race track, dance hall, and casino. Winston Richard, Ellis' son, grew up on the race track and now lives on the property with his wife, Kathy, his horses, and a few heads of cattle. The importance of family, their history, and their contributions in the world of quarter horse racing and Cajun music are evident throughout the home.
